Light, Shadow & Intent
I’m drawn to working with minimal light—allowing darkness to shape the frame rather than compete with it. Instead of lighting a scene evenly, I let large areas fall into shadow, creating space for mood, depth, and emotion to emerge.
There’s a quiet power in what isn’t fully revealed. A subject can emerge from the darkness rather than sit entirely within it—guiding the eye with intention and restraint.
My work often embraces strong contrast, where light and shadow exist in deliberate tension. Highlights are purposeful, shadows remain deep and unforced, and unnecessary detail falls away. This approach simplifies the image, giving it a sculptural quality—where form, feeling, and presence take precedence.
The result is imagery that feels intimate, considered, and timeless—where light doesn’t just illuminate the scene, but defines it.
