I'm Frank Servello, a Melbourne photographer with a passion for people, stories and the world around me.

My photographic journey began with a strong interest in documentary and journalistic photography. I was drawn to genuine, unscripted moments — observing rather than interrupting and looking for the expressions, gestures and details that tell a story.

That philosophy remains an important part of my photography, particularly when photographing weddings, events and everyday life.

As my photography has developed, so have my interests.

Portraiture has given me the opportunity to explore people in a more considered way — working with light, expression, environment and composition to create images that reveal something about the person in front of my camera.

More recently, food photography has opened another creative direction. It allows me to slow things down and carefully control light, colour, texture and composition to create an image rather than simply observe one.

These different styles may require very different approaches, but they are connected by the same thing:

I love creating photographs that make people stop and look.

Sometimes that means quietly recognising a moment as it happens. At other times, it means carefully constructing the photograph from the ground up.

Either way, I am always looking for light, emotion, detail and story.
